Access that matters
Help educators navigate practical routes to real quantum hardware and structured learning.
From qubits to real-world breakthroughs, we connect universities, researchers, students and industry with practical pathways into quantum computing.
It should be something engineers can explore, researchers can test, and institutions can teach with confidence.
MQSI International Quantum Mission is an initiative led by the MQSI Advanced Research Community, powered by MAH Quantum and supported by partners. We help institutions make quantum technology a meaningful part of engineering education—not an isolated elective or a distant research topic.
Our approach connects curriculum planning, hands-on exploration, research direction and industry context, so learners can understand not only what quantum computing is, but what it looks like when real hardware runs their work.
How the mission works ↘Help educators navigate practical routes to real quantum hardware and structured learning.
Connect core engineering subjects to quantum concepts, coursework and experiments.
Introduce application-led projects, research questions and industry use cases.
Build the understanding to run a circuit, receive results from quantum hardware, and learn to interpret what happened.
Simulators are valuable teaching tools. Real quantum devices add another layer: the opportunity to observe physical hardware in action, account for noise and measurement, and study results that do not behave like an idealised model.
Explore IBM Classroom AccountsIBM's Classroom Accounts are designed to help educators organise hands-on access to quantum computing for a group of students.
Read IBM's official documentation ↗Educators can invite and manage a cohort through a shared classroom environment.
IBM currently describes 10 minutes of system usage per student each month. Check IBM's current terms before applying.
Classroom Accounts have a stated 365-day validity period, with renewals handled through IBM's process.
Important distinction — MQSI helps institutions plan their quantum learning pathway and understand the application process. IBM independently determines eligibility, account approval, available systems and usage conditions. The Mission does not represent that IBM hardware access is automatic or guaranteed.
We welcome expressions of interest from universities and colleges at different stages of research maturity. IBM Classroom Accounts have their own application requirements; all participating institutions must meet IBM's current criteria and apply through IBM's official process.
A practical bridge between what is taught, what is researched and what industry may need next.
Shape a clearer route for quantum concepts to sit alongside computer science, engineering, mathematics and other relevant STEM disciplines.
TEACHING WITH INTENT ↗Explore guided projects, investigate emerging applications and practise communicating research findings with technical clarity.
FROM QUESTION TO RESULT ↗Connect classroom work to use cases, emerging workflows and the questions practitioners are exploring today.
SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE ↗Whether you lead an institution, build in industry or are just beginning to explore quantum technology, there's a place to start.
For institutional leaders, faculty, academic coordinators and university representatives interested in embedding quantum technology into education and research.
For organisations interested in quantum-readiness, emerging use cases, research engagement and building a bridge with academic talent.
For people looking to exchange research interests, follow developments and connect with others exploring quantum computing.
For individual learners who want to keep up with trends, discover learning resources and follow where quantum engineering is heading.
Institutions join the MQSI International Quantum Mission through an annual subscription that supports community coordination, programme development and the shared pathway toward practical quantum education and research.
For universities and colleges participating in the MQSI Mission.
Join an international community for updates on quantum technology, research conversations, learning opportunities and emerging trends. Students, individual researchers, faculty and university representatives are welcome to join the community.
Clear expectations are part of good collaboration.
No. IBM independently evaluates Classroom Account requests and sets eligibility, approval and usage conditions. MQSI helps institutions plan curriculum integration and understand the pathway, but cannot promise approval or a particular device allocation.
University representatives, faculty, researchers, corporate participants and individual students can join the WhatsApp community to follow updates and engage with the wider community.
The stated US$500 per year subscription is for universities and colleges joining the MQSI Mission as institutions. Students and individual community members do not need to pay this institutional subscription to join the WhatsApp group.
The mission is focused on curriculum integration, learning pathways, research and project engagement, industry context and community coordination. Detailed scope, terms and onboarding are confirmed directly with MAH Quantum before enrolment.
Yes, MQSI welcomes interest across different levels of institutional maturity, including Tier 3 through Tier 1 institutions. Any IBM Classroom Account request remains subject to IBM's own criteria and approval.
